About Slowly Mom

Hi, I’m Yu! When I first became a mom here in Japan, I often felt overwhelmed and alone. Most parenting resources were in Japanese, and I was constantly second-guessing myself — Am I dressing my baby too warmly? Too lightly? Is this how moms in Japan do it? Without anyone to personally consult, I stumbled through so many moments just wishing someone had told me how things work here.

This blog is where I share my honest experiences as a foreign mother navigating motherhood in Japan — the little wins, the cultural confusions, and everything in between. I hope that by documenting my story, I can help other moms like me feel a little less alone. Whether you're a fellow foreign parent in Japan or just curious about what motherhood looks like here, welcome to my corner of the internet. I’m glad you’re here.o
